Mere Plantations compartment for reforestation in Afram Headwaters Forest Reserve

About Mere Plantations

Who we are

Mere Plantations owns the leasehold rights for 50 years on 4,000 Hectares (10,000 Acres) of degraded forestland for our first plantation. The land is found over 2 distinct sites, located within the Afram Headwaters Forest Reserve ("AHFR").

Each site is broken down into "compartments", which are approximately 100ha, and each compartment is broken down into 2-4 "sub-compartments". Fire-rides (roads cleared of vegetation to compartmentalise the spread of fire, also called "fire-breaks") separate our compartments and sub-compartments.

The reserve is located within the climatic transition zone of the Ashanti Region in Ghana, where the moist, deciduous forest of the south meets the dry, Guinean Savannah vegetation of the north.
